I have a Fujica 35-ee which was fine six months ago but now has a "browned out" viewfinder. It seems to have a beam-splitter type prism to combine the viewfinder, rangefinder and frameline images, and I think the problem is in there. A brown stain covers half the image in the finder. It's not reflective, the way lens separation looks, but more like dark brown dye has got in the way of the light. Looking down on the prism, it is rectangular with a diagonal join, which I imagine is where the stain is. Are prisms glued like lens elements, or would there be something else at the interface to make it semi reflective? Would it be repairable? |

Hi Jonathan, I had exactly this problem. I think your best option is to find a junker camera with a good prism and replace the entire rangefinder unit. I had no joy at all in trying to remove the prism it was mounted so securely. These are nice solid cameras with fantastic shutters. Good luck Howard |
