I've got this silly idea to adapt the 42mm lens from an olympus 35rc to fit on a pen-ft. It would be just like the famous 38mm pancake lens.
The lens focuses to infinity with a few millimeters to spare, so I've been testing it held onto the camera. If the photos came out well then maybe I'll put some time into making it work properly.
The original 2-blade diaphragm isn't really useable here, so I'm using an f4 cardboard hole for the moment. It would be great to fit a proper diaphragm though, so I wonder if anyone can think of easily adaptable blades and mechanism, preferably from an slr so the lens can be an 'auto'.
The 35rc lens is designed for diaphragm as well as shutter behind the lens, so all I need to do is fit a diaphragm to the back of the lens and a bayonet to the back of the diaphragm. I think I'll end up making the mechanism from brass, and just using the blades from another camera.
Any suggestions? Most diaphragms are sized to fit larger diameter lens bodies than the pen-f lenses. I have about 35mm diameter and 5-10mm thickness to spare. I don't want to just start ripping open lenses at random. |
