My OM1 recently purchased, started having faulty readings with the light meter. When the camera is off, the lever stays just a touch off center between the (+) and (-), instead of its usual off position below the (-) sign. When it is turned on, it shoots up to the utmost position above the (+) sign. Also when i make adjustments the needle just sort of bounces in the same place without moving.I am using the recommended Wein cell 1.35 battery, and it was working fine for the first couple months I had it. Is it fixable? If so how do you gut it to get to the meter. I've gutted most of it and toyed around with the lever itself, but figured i should get a second opinion before i break something.
If unfixable, i'll probably just get a hand held light meter.
Thanks, Dan.

this sounds like a mechanical problem - maybe a cord has come unglued from the SS or apterture rings? there were 2 series of OM1, the first has the cord glued directly to a ring around the lens mount, the later ones have a ring & pinion that's touchier to work on. i have notes on the earlier type, i've worked on the later ones but didn't enjoy it.

to get to the meter movement itself, just remove the top cover - it's poking up in the air under the ASA dial. the coupling cords snake around from there down to the SS ring.

I believe your right, as there appears to be some slack in the cord attached to the apterture ring. (or the black plastic ring with teeth on the bottom of it(fits into gear). If you could send me your notes, or instructions on removing the top, i would appreciate it. thanks.
Dan
