The shutter seems to work fine with no battery in the camera but when battery installed and shutter button pushed, shutter opens and stays open until rewind lever moved. Also, on half push, yellow arrow goes on and stays on regardless of aperture. Battery is brand new.

This is a symptom of needing a new "Pad of Death" - check on the yashica-Guy website and Rangefinder Forum. It's a DIY job if you are careful |
