Canon AE-1P wind lever retaining ring...

Posted on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 - 03:22 pm:        I am trying to remove the wind lever retaining ring to complete the removal of the top cover of my AE-1P. I have removed the rewind lever but the advance lever on the right side has a retaining ring that is flat with four little round holes in it. Of course, I don't have the proper tool for it so I am trying to use what I have (needle nose pliers). I have used a fair bit of force but don't want to damage anything. Can anyone confirm which direction this should turn and does anyone have any trick for getting it loose? Posted on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 - 05:49 pm:        False alarm - I have managed to remove the retaining ring (which is a standard "right hand" thread.) It was just very tightly installed. Onward and upward.
