We flipped the canoe and the AE1 Program went under for sometime. One light appears in the meter window but nothing functions. Is it likely a blown circuit board in there? If so, does somebody have one? Otherwise, can anyone tell me what is likely to be blown? |

It is more than likely that the camera is beyond economic repair. The camera will need a complete strip down and removing the electrics in the A Series, can cause more problems than it sets out to cure.Every connector, switch wiper or IC is a potential fault site. You would have to do a full circuit check, as a fault could be anywhere. Unless you are well versed in A Series electronics, it is going to be a costly repair-if it is repairable. AE1-P are cheap to buy and the most cost effective solution is to replace. If you fancy DIY, then a weekend spent cleaning contacts etc and probing with a DVM might show you components that need replacing. You will then probably need a parts camera to complete the repair! |

Even a mechanical camera of that complexity is likely to be a goner if it's been dunked. Best procedure usually is immediate immersion in distilled water to flush out salt, silt, crud and little plants and animals from the camera, followed by drying by the most rapid means possible.... but drying out the inside of a camera is unlikely to be rapid enough unless it's disassembled to let the water vapor out..... You might get lucky, you have nothing to lose by trying to fix it yourself (as long as you don't invest a lot in the effort) |

My canon S1 IS went into salt water for mybe 30 seconds, but no water in the lenses and no sign of it inside the camera and it also show some signs of life, like the flash light indicator is on. Can Isave it somehow? Thanks |
