I just inherited a nice Minolta XD5, but I have a problem: With new batteries, none of the electronics will work. The camera *does* work in O, B and timer modes, but other than that...no luck. Is this a repairable situation? Thanks! |

Sure, anything is repairable... but let's start with the easy part first. Try cleaning the batteries and battery holder first, making sure the positive side of the batteries are facing "up" when installed. On this model the ground has to connect from the base of the battery holder to the bottom plate where they screw together, then to the body of the camera via the two screws holding the bottom plate. Clean the connection between the battery holder and bottom plate, and then loosen and then tighten the bottom plate screws. Then cross your fingers and see if it works. If not, then some level of disassembly will be required. Good luck, Mike |
