I have acquired a Cannon EXEE which has been abused. The meter showed no pointer in the viewfinder and the aperture change mechanical mechanism did not work. I have partially dismantled the camera and removed the meter- it and the light cell work well. The problem appears to be that the meter pointer is binding between the housings where the aperture finger rises to set the aperture. The meter needle has a series of curves- the largest being an up-side-down V above the aperture finger. It seems to me that this is too large and may have been caused by the abuser pressing on the aperture setting lever at the front of the camera- this would explain the needle disappearing from the focussing screen. The lens has definitely been taken off at some stage. Has anyone any information on the shape of the meter needle- should it simply have a curve to clear its housing and then be straight? |
