Hope everyone is enjoying and getting used to the new layout. Do we need all 6 years of archived messages? Maybe we should only keep the past 2 years of messages, what do you guys think? I'm going to start pruning the messages in the "Swap Zone" to delete ads that are older than 365 days. Any input/suggestions welcomed. |

Certainly 2 years of archives are enough. As to the 'Swap Zone', 6 months would probably be adequate. If I can't find a part I need for 6 months, the 'Parts Needed Unit' becomes a 'Parts Donor'....... Than I go and buy another Parts Donor to fix the original Parts Donor and the circle continues. I agree with Jan, 2 years is adequate for the archive. As for the swap zone; if it was clearly stated how long the advert will be viewable, then I would say 3 months. I can say this because if I was desperately looking for a part, not receiving a reply after 3 months would mean I would readvertise, to try and grab people's attention again. |

It is a difficult decision. If someone has a 40 year old camera, the information needed may have been posted once 10 years ago. Is screening out duplicated information for each camera possible? |

I went ahead and deleted all the older messages except for the past 3 years. No, it's not possible to screen out duplicated info for each camera. If they don't see a question asked already, they can feel free to start a new post. |
