Hi all. What’s the special tool and or home made item that removes (unscrews) the retaining ring on the front of my 50mm 1.8 Nikon. All the best. Scott. "Asking first avoids tears and the need to raid the wifes housekeeping to buy a new one." |

i have a set of short pieces of PVC pipe to which I have glued rubber to the edge on one end. I choose a suitable size for whichever lens I'm looking at, press firmly and twist. Even more effective than rubber is that double-sided foam adhesive tape stuff... it sticks to both the lens ring and the PVC pipe so you don't have to press so hard to get a grip. There are also rubber crutch tips in some very handy sizes, and micro-tools sells rubber tools for the purpose. |
