On the back it says Welta and the top handle has some on it, but it is unreadable. On the front is printed Contessa, Netel, Compur, D.R.P., (serial number) 258646, D.R.G.M. On the lens is printed Carl Zelss, Jena, Nr. 558452, tessar 1:4,5 F=13,5cm. The name of this camera or any information on it would be very helpful. The ground glass holder has a different leather dye and grain, it won't be original and its inscription is irrelevant. Lenses did and do get moved to another camera as well, so the lens/shutter inscription need not match the body either. And they probably don't in this case, given the different state of body and lens - the lens and standard should be much more similarily brassed next to the shutter cocking lever. Going by the rail mechanism (Contessa Nettel usually had a quite characteristically different one), I'd guess at one of the many Ica Ideal variants, descendants and imitations. |
