Greetings - my daughter has started in a photography class at high school, and I pulled my A1 out of the closet - it worked well for a few months, but the rewind button has jammed in - the camera still meters correctly - no error codes, but it will not wind and the shutter won't release. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks, Steve |

Start with a fresh battery. A weak battery can have enough voltage to power the metering but not the release circuit |

I kept my fingers crossed as I installed the new battery, but no luck. Any thoughts on a next step? thanks |

The next step would be under the bottom cover. There is likely a sticky magnet. A previous post in the last couple of weeks covered that. That post is not too far down. Its title is, ( Canon AE-1 shutter won't stay open). The A1,AE1, and AE1P all are built on the same chassis. The magnets are the same. |
