I have an old Kodak Retinette with Compur Rapid shutter and Schneider Reomar 3.5 lens, which has been lanquishing for a long time due to a sluggish escapement and a loose rewind crank. I finally opened it up, fixed the rewind crank and got the escapement working, and all is well, except that when I took the front element of the lens off, a semicircular aluminum ring fell out, which appears to be part of the infinity stop. It looks as if it was simply glued into the focusing ring. Could this be, or have I missed something? It certainly doesn't stop at infinity or anywhere else with this ring loose. Should I just glue it in again? Any bright ideas? |

If you google "Chris's camera pages" he has a lot of information on Retinas and Retinettes including a parts breakdown of Retinettes. Maybe some it may be useful to you. Good luck. |

Thanks for the link. Nothing applying directly to my problem, but it's interesting stuff anyway, so I bookmarked it. I might try emailing him. |

G'day M_currie, Yes, that stop was just glued into place on these cameras. You can probably tell from the marks left exactly where it sat, just use a little epoxy or similar to glue it back in place. Regards, Chris |

Thanks for the reply. It looks as if I should be able to get it glued in all right. There isn't much trace of the original, but if I use something that doesn't harden too quickly I should be able to get it placed right. I'm curious to run some film through this junk box Retinette to see how it stacks up to the later 1A, which performs quite nicely despite its low-line shutter. |
