I have just received some slides back and they were all severely overexposed. I am trying to relate this fault to the following which is in the instruction manual for the camera :-
"Inserting the Film. Before a film is inserted the shutter-speed setting knob should be set to [Flash symbol] (approx. 1/90th sec) as otherwise a slow shutter speed may be formed in the automatic setting. Do not use force. A slow shutter speed so formed can be cut short by changing from automatic to B."
I have copied this verbatim from the manual. Can anyone explain it more clearly to me please. There was also a sticker on the camera saying "Set exposure knob to B when opening the camera back." That must be related to the above.
Please can anyone throw light on this (pun not intended!) and get me operating this camera properly. Thanks all, John.
The reason for the flash setting when loading film is to reduce the delay in winding the camera on to the first exposure. If you load the camera in subdued light as recommended, the shutter may be open for several seconds between initial shots if set to auto.
I have no idea about the "B" recommendation when opening the camera back.
I don't think your problem is related to these issues.
A common problem causing overexposure in this model series is the lens diaphragm not stopping down fully due to oil contamination- I would check that first.
