My son has a Nikon EM in which the meter needle appears to flutter, or perhaps bounce around. There used to be a web site which gave instructions on how to stop this by getting into the front of the camera. Does anyone out there know where this web site is located? My son keeps asking me when I'm going to repair his camera. Thanks, Harlee |

The first thing to try is to move the lens aperture control back and forth across its full range a few dozen times. This is sometimes enough to clean off the contaminatino on the resistor strip that is causing the problem of needle bounce. If that doesn't work, then you have to take off the front of the lens mount and clean the strip with alcohol. Taking off the lens mount cover is tricky because you will release the tension on the spring that operates the aperture linkage ring. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions. |
