Hello, I have the following problem with my Minolta XG-1: http://www.yohho.ho.com.ua/xg1/xg1bug.jpg Curtains doesn`t work properly. On slow speeds up to 125 they are opened 1/3 only and the second curtain stops as it is showed on the image. If the speed set 125 and faster there is not the gap at all. What you think it is a mechanical problem or electronic? Does anybody have service manual for the camera? Thank you |

The second curtain does not have enough mechanical force to finish it's travel, probably caused by dirt or foreign material. A stray film chip, like the one stuck to your door hinge light seal, is an example of what to look for. The XG series has the shutter attached to the mirror cage, which is a bit out of the ordinary. I think Tomosy's second book has a repair chapter on a Minolta X series, which is mechanically similar. Mike |

Thank you Mike, I found service manual for x370. It looks like XG-1 and x-370 are similar. |

Yes, it appears that you have a later model XG-1 which is very similar mechanically to the X-370. Get the shutter exposed out in the open and you will likely solve the problem. Good Luck! Mike |
