I just acquired a beautiful looking Fujica ST705 in an online auction that was represented as "meter not working." When it arrived without batteries, I put some in and the meter needle came alive, and I thought, "Great! It works after all." Not quite. It goes to the overexposed position (top) and stays there no matter what ASA, shutter speed or aperture I select.
What I want to know is: Can anyone tell me if this is a reasonable do-it-yourselfer or not.
I have a pretty complete set of ST705 parts from another camera that was junked, but not for light meter problems. Also, a factory repair manual is available online for $35. Any suggestions where to begin?

You can download a free repair manual ie. exploded drawings here:

http://pentax-manuals.com/fujica/fujica.htm
Click on Cameras M42 then ST705 then scroll down to find manual.
I also have the ST705 nice!
Good luck - Alf

Thanks. I'll try that for starters.

Things are looking up. The manual downloaded fine. The second troubleshooting topic described the problem exactly. They isolate it to one component that I think I have a spare of (if the solder joint check doesn't solve it with the existing one). The only problem is that once disassembled this far, I hope everything goes back together. Wish me luck. And thanks again for the helpful tip.

Post-script: even with the ultra-fine wires and my poor soldering skills, it now works. Thanks.
