there is an sx-70 sonar at a thrift store with my name on. when i looked through it, it was black. there was still an old film cartridge in it. is it possible the half dead battery is screwing with whatever tells the mirror to flip? should i buy a new pack of film to test it out? shouldn't you be able to see what the lens sees regardless of batteries or not? maybe just a cla? is 25$$ worth the risk..? i don't think i've had a problem quite this intense in a long time.... |

Hi Alicia, I bought an SX-70 sonar that was "broken" and displayed similar symptoms. It wouldn't fold down properly either. I put an empty film pack in with a charged battery, pressed the shutter button and all worked, it seemed to reset itself. If i was you i'd try to get an empty but fully charged film pack and try it out ( better than wasting a new pack on a dud camera). These are great cameras, i have 2. |
