I was also offered an XG, are these similar to the 101 or completely different. |

Different enough - the XG (which model, BTW?)is an electronic camera which is generally not easy to use in manual mode. I know there are websites out there that enumerate the differences between the various Minolta SLR lines in detail. |

Well, the XG-M is the only one of the entire XG line which can reasonably be used manually. If you were offered this and the 303, why not get both if you can? If I were in your position, I'd still take the mechanical 303, but that's really just personal preference. |

The 303 is the Japan-market-only version of the 102 and should be a fine camera- and maybe a bit scarce outside of Japan. If you feel a Minolta collection coming on try: http://members.aol.com/manualminolta/srt102.htm |
