I have a Praktica PLC 2 SLR with a shutter that won't fire and the winder won't wind on.Any ideas? Thanks, Sean. |

Hi Sean, it is very likely, that your shutter does not work because it is not possible to wind up the camera at the moment. So, if you fix the winding mechanism, everything will be fine again. I had the same situation with a Praktica, that somebody else let fall to the floor - and the solution was very simple: First you have to take off the top section of the camera body, thats the most time-consuming part of the operation. The winding mechanism is working with a little spike (fixed movable at one edge), which is pressed by a little spring into three (or four) radial holes in a disc at the top section of the winding shaft. Each time you wind up the camera, the spike is pushing the disc (and so the winding shaft) forward - and when the winding lever goes back, the spike goes on the external edge of the disc to the next hole, where it is fixed again by the spring. So at your camera it is possible, that the little spring just snap off the little spike. You may put it back to the original position with a little screwdriver. Thats all. Thomas |
