I have a Praktica LTL3 that has a working meter, but snaps the shutter every time I wind the advance lever. I have another which is an LTL and no meter function. I am using 'old school' settings for it and will see about new film latitude when I have it developed. Anyone know How to fix the LTL3 cause it is Pristine condition? any help is appreciated...Ken |

The shutter fires during the latter part of the film advance lever action because this shutter is not latching. The latching pawl is either "stuck" or has a stretched or even detached spring. Offhand I just can't remember whether the latch pawl is under the top plate - or under the base-plate. Anyone ????
Regardless - is is not a big deal to address.

Actually, there is at least one other possible reason for a problem like this:
By operating the rewind lever the curtains are clamped to the pre-shot position. But if they are not fixed by some hooks, they snap back and one has the after-shot situation immediately.
To clarify this, we probably need to know if the mirror is rising when you wind up the camera and this unwanted shot appears. If this is the case, then Stuart's advice is probably correct. If not, we should discuss my repair procedure alternatively.

Well, I have dismantled my LTL3 yesterday, as far as I understand the mechanics, the cocking latch is located under the mirror cage, so a complete disassembly would be necessary. This is anyway quite simple for those, who hae patience.
I will provide further description of disassembly procedure if necessary... Mail me at locust2poczta.onet.pl (press shift when typing that '2' in my email address [or ALT-Q if you're German] ;P)

My Praktica Super TL 1000 seems have the same problem here. Shutter runs automatically when winding, and the mirror stays flip, as the result the viewfinder went dark. Spotted also the curtain stays open. Anyone can help me please ? No camera service center can fix this problem, so I have decided to check it my self. After releasing several screws, I do not know how to open the top cover. Is there any picture or repair/service manual that can help me through this trouble ?  Thank you in advance ...

Could anyone provide me with info (PDF or other doc) on how to open/disassemble the Praktica LTL3?

I had the same vertical metal shutter problem on a Konica Autoreflex. Someone suggested I drip a little naphtha (lighter fluid) carefully on the metal blades and pivots. Surprisingly the shutter eventually latched and has been working ever since. Guess that was a lucky & easy fix. I'm sure that was an exception! |
