Can anyone give me a clue how to remove the top-plate of a Konica auto s3, please? I've found the screw under the rewind knob but can't find another one on the other side! The accessory shoe has come off, by the way.
Thanks
Norman

Norman,

Did you remove the film advance lever? I believe the other anchor point for the top plate is under it.

Good luck, Jan

Thanks for that, Jan........but how does the rewind lever come off??? Is it some sort of special tool that's needed?
Thanks
Norman

My shoe had gotten loose also. Here's how I got the cover off and replaced a screw that had worked its way out. There are four things you have to remove to get the cover off. First, the rewind lever which comes apart rather simply. To do so, open the camera back and stick something between the two blades of the rewind spool and turn the rewind knob counter (anti)-clockwise. Don't use the little rewind lever; instead stick something in the slot where the lever sits. Then remove the little screw that sits under the rewind lever. Next is the film advance knob which is held on by a small screw with a large head with two holes on its surface. Lastly, under the film advance lever is a nut which can be removed with a spanner-like tool. I used circlip pliers. The cover will now slide up and come off. Only a black wire for the shoe will remain. There's enough slack in it to remove the cover, but put it on something to take tension off of the wire, or else unsolder it. Some things to be aware of: the shutter button goes on with the notch facing inwards. The little spring under the film advance lever faces up. The lightening shaped washer under the film advance lever has a definite up and down side. Don't work the rewind lever when it's off the camera; it'll come apart. And finally, don't close the camera back without the rewind lever attached.
The accessory shoe is held on by four screws. Three are countersunk phillips and one is a panhead phillips.
I took some digital photos. Here are the links:
