Hi everybody, the film forwarding mechanism is working but the mirror is getting stuck in up position in lower speeds (1/60---1, B)but not at higher speeds.Any suggestions? |

First, you need to get an idea of what's making it stick. the 2 major possibilities are: 1. Sticky foam in front of the focusing screen 2. Mirror linkage failing to trip after the shutter closes. Remove the lens, release the shutter at a slow speed and while the mirror is stuck in teh up position very gently pull down on its front edge with your fingernail. if it comes free immediately it was probably stuck on the foam (you can generally also see a mark at the front edge of the mirror from the sticky foam in this case, and maybe a few little black specks). You can replace the foam with the help of a kit from Jon Goodman ([email protected]), it's less than $10. If the mirror resists, its mechanism has not released it. In this case the camera needs service. rick : ) = |
