Just got (auction) a Ciro-flex with Alphax shutter, which turns out to be 'busted.' Shutter is open, and shutter-release is just hanging loose (as though not connected to anything). Might this be a simple fix? Leatherette on face has been removed by previous owner, but the screws don't look like they've been removed. How easy would it be to replace the shutter with a Rapax from another camera? [Apologies for mistakenly putting this query first into the 'swap' forum.] |

The Alphax is a good simple shutter. It is very easy to work on. Here is some good repair info: http://daniel.mitchell.name/cameras/ciroflex/ciroflex.html The shutters are interchangeable and, except for the models A and F, so are the lenses. BTW the thin pieces of "leatherette" around the lenses are frequently missing, probably due to the dried out original glue. |

I believe the front plate of the lens panel is different between the alphax and rapax shutters - cable release socket in a different location. so when you find a donor for the shutter, you might wnat to pull the panel too. doesn't really matter, i don't think, if you're not planning to use the cable release..... : ) = |
