Can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement Aperature control base for a Minolta Maxxum 3000i? I've found places that will do the repair for about $50.00 but I want to do it myself. Thanks. |

From what I understand, this is not a very simple repair and requires professional expertise. I had my Maxxum 3000i serviced several weeks ago for the same aperture problem by Garry's Camera Repair. I only paid $50.00 + shipping. They did a fantastic job on it and turnaround time was incredibly fast. Save your time and energy. Here is their web site www.garryscamera.com |

Thanks Tom. I'm not familiar with the repair, yet, but I figured since the repair is pretty cheap the part must quite inexpensive. I just can't seem to find anyplace that sells them. I was told to go straight to Minolta but I can't find any references on their site for buying parts, only accessories. Maybe I'll see if Gary will sell one to me. John T. |

The post is plastic for the aperture problems in the 300si (same layout) that I had done. The camera repair center that has been doing the major repairs for many camera shops in Va. is LATENT IMAGE 7206 Hull Street Road Suite 100 B Richmond Va. 23235 (804) 674-4816. He will put in a metal pin in place of the plastic for you or may just sell you the part. To contact the factory service direct this is the info. Nope, no manual modes unless there are some "hidden" settings somewhere. There's nothing stated in the manual, but it seems that there should be, so at least the service technicians can test and adjust the shutter and curtain speeds... |
