I have just bought a 55mm f/2 SMC Takumar - eBay. Came with a fairly good Pentax SP1000. Only trouble with the lens is that it has a little fungus on the outside of the front element. So, help! How can I get rid of the fungus? |

Fungus usually does not grow on the outside of the lens - most often it is found inside the elements. Are you certain it is fungus? If it is, try regular household vinegar - applied with a 'Q' tip. It usually gets rid of it. Needless to say, use a small amount and clean the lens after you are done. Good luck, Jan |

Frankly, on a second look (albeit by room lighting), I'm not totally sure. It looked that way by daylight. |

terry, the reccommended method is to use Pond's face cream. no joke. apply, and rub gently with your finger until it clears. wipe off with damp cloth. dry. just take care when u loosen/unscrew the lens retaining rings that you do not slip and scar the coatings. |
