I recently purchased an older, M42 mount, Soligor 80-200mm macro-zoom lens to use on my Canon 20D. Some times the lens macro sheath will become stuck, as will the focus ring. Also, I can hear something rattling inside the lens. Is there a way to dissassemble the lens and do a thorough cleaning/repair? |

Hollis, I do a lot of lens repair on Soligor and Miranda lenses (usually purchased on e-bay from someone who claims they are in "excellent" condition!). I would not try to repair a zoom lens- they are just too complicated! If it's worth it to you, send it to a repair shop. When I get a bad zoom, all I do is tear it down for spare screws and springs. Sorry I can't be more encouraging! |

Wow. Thanks for the advice, though I have all ready dissasembled part of 3 different zoom lenses. On the end thats goes into the camera body there is that small pin for auto functions I guess. Well, I have been taking those assemblies out so the lenses will be fully manual. I use them with an adapter on my digital camera, and I can't go fully manual unless I do that because the pin retracts out uness pushed on by another device in the older camers I'm guessing. I won't go doing that anymore though! Luckily the other two work perfect. As for the rattling, I found those were bearings. Thanks for you help! |
