I have a VSL1 which has that strange drum-type frame counter: a strip with numbers is would (or should be wound) on a drum when the film is advanced. On mine it does not. If I turn the drum manually the frame counter will reset as I open the loading door. There seems to be a gear train somewhere below the speed escapement to drive the frame counter but I hesitate to remove the escapement. Any ideas how to fix the frame counter? I assume that all Voigtlaender VSL models and also at least some of the Rollei SL35 have the same frame counter. |

This is the Icarex counter. On the Rollei manufactured versions, film must be in the camera to turn the upper part of the top sprocket gear to work the counter. |

Ooops... maybe this is the culprit. Did not have a film in the camera yet. Thanks for the hint! Probably the gear train I saw partially rather links to the sprocket wheel. |

Checked it when I was back home. The frame counter works if you turn the upper sprocket wheel manually, very probably it will work with film, too. Thanks again. |
