Hi all I have a Rollei 35se but the light meter seems to be giving a false reading. All my shots are underexposed. Has anyone experienced this and is there a solution? Thanks in advance Stu |

Pls check your dial settings. I had a similar problem and found out that the dial lock had loosend up und moved ahead. It may be a reason.. RDJ |

Is the meter off by a couple of stops, but otherwise working well? I have repaired a couple of Rollei 35 models recently (TE and SE) and here's what I found. The movement of the shutter speed dial and aperture dial is converted into a mechanical rotation of a variable density filter over the metering cell. The basic position of the variable density filter has to be set to the correct position to get the right exposure reading. One portion of the mechanical movement is a rack and pinion gear assembly. If the camera is jolted, this can skip some gears, resulting in an exposure shift. It's not too hard to take it apart and adjust it back to the correct position, but having a manual to get the correct setting is necessary. There is no adjustment to the meter other than this one. (The basic setting for calibration is accomplished by putting the correct neutral density filter over the meter cell to get the correct reading, so don't lose the one that came with the camera when you take it apart!). |
