Is this a difficult fix? Can anyone offer me any pointers or things to watch out for during disassembly of the 80mm Sekor lens?

To answer my own question, from info on another forum (and for anyone with a similar problem)...
Try some Ronsonol lighter fluid. Unscrew both the front and rear elements, and put a few drops right on the blades. Trip the shutter for a while. Sometimes this clears things up, and it won’t make it any worse.
NEVER put any liquid lubricant on the blades. I’m sure you know this, but it’s worth repeating. WD-40 and machine oil are not your shutter’s friend. |

It's not a hard fix, it's a very standard leaf shutter. The lens cells on Mamiya TLRs tend to be screwed on VERY tight, this has been the most challenging aspect of them for me.
I have a sketch for opening it, but frankly it's so straightforward that the sketch doesn't actually say much of anything.
Once open, what you want to do is put a drop of lighter fluid on the axles of the pallet and star wheel.... usually that's enough. If you don't know quite where to look or how to get there, email me for some notes and sketches. |

Thanks Rick. I did manage to get the lens cells apart. The shutter's firing again after the lighter fluid treatment. The 1 second setting still sticks, however. Also, 1/8 is completely off--it's firing at probably 1/125. All the other speeds seem about right. I can use the camera now, albiet with no 1/8 or 1 second settings. :P Having never owned a medium format, I am looking to try it out before going crazy and spending big dollars. At least now I can get a feel for 6x6 to see if it's for me. |

It sounds to me like it's still not clean. If you're 100% sure the escapement is perfectly clean, you might try one small drop of very thin oil on the star wheel and on the cam follower where it shifts between the slow and medium speeds. |
