My MG-1 has developed a problem. Outdoors in bright sunshine it appears to work fine, but take it indoors and set it to say F5.6, the shutter stays open until I point the camera toward a bright light source, then it closes. New batteries don't seem to make a difference. Is there the infamous POD in the MG-1 similar to the GN, GSN, GTN, etc.? I removed the top but couldn't locate it if there is one there. I've replaced one in my GSN without too much trouble and wonder if I need to do the same in the MG-1, if there is one there. Thanx!

At f5.6 indoors the shutterspeed simply has to be low to expose the film correctly.

I quite agree, but I'm talking 10-12 seconds with ISO 200 film and light enough to read by!

I googled Yashica MG and found a website that says the automatic exposure system is not capable of setting times of longer than 2 sconds. If you have a manual this may be clarified. I think the various Electro GS's will time to 10 seconds.

I just found a manual under the "Instruction Manuals" listing on the left. Under the "features" listing it says automatic exposure is limited to 2 seconds.

Yes there is a POD in the MG-1. It is as likely to go bad as any Yashica. If it has gone bad, it would definitely cause problems like you describe.
