This lens looks like the trim ring should come off to access the infinity focus adjustment screws. Unfortunately, the trim ring is on very tight. How can I remove it without damaging the lens?

Sigma is known for using adhesive tape rather than screws. Carefully remove the rubber grip for the focus ring. The tape is located there. It holds the two rings together. I'm guessing this is a f2.8 lense.

It turns out this lens does use a screw-in nameplate. It is a Sigma 24mm f2.8 "super wide", and it is truly a maintenance-resistant design. Not only was the front plate almost impossible to remove (I had to apply fine oil, naptha, and WD-40 before it would budge.), but the adustment of aperture size is very difficult, and the aperture control ring action is rough. These lenses may be bargains in terms of optical performance, but their mechanical design is the work of the devil.
