I recently picked up Canonet QL17 G-III. It appears to have an unusal problem. It seems to work fine in "A" mode. However, when I take it off A it won't fire with any combination of aperture and shutter, including 1/30th. Also, the battery check light doesn't work. Thanks, Taylor |

To describe your problem as "unusual" is using a very mild expression - normaly the opposite is the problem. Anyway what exactly does happen - can you press the release button all the way and then advance again, or does the advance lever remain blocked so indicating that the shutter is cocked and has not been released? |

If I cock the shutter in manual it just won't fire, it seems like it's locked. It feels the same as if it were in auto and there wasn't enough light. As soon as put back in auto it operates normally. It seems like what ever stops the shutter from firing in auto remains engaged when I switch to manual. Taylor |
