My f-stop ring won't work. It works when I completely remove the lens from the camera body but when I attach it back on it just isn't effective. Help guys? |

Although almost everyone here has a prophetic eye it would be enormously helpful to know the brand of camera that troubles you! |

I'm going to close my eyes and feel the outside of the envelope, and guess that if you have a Nikon that requires AI lenses, and are using a pre-AI lens on it, it will jam the aperture ring, and also possibly damage the camera. |

In addition to feeling the package, did you remember to hold it against your forehead? |

He's using one o' dem stinkin' new gadgets with auto aperture. When the lens is mounted, the diaphragm won't stop down for nuttin'. Hey buddy, toss that F6 in the can and buy a Holga, pronto! ;-) |

f stops are obsolete. cameras are now on release 4.0 of the G stop, the H stop is due out by the end of the year. some newer models are no longer backward compatible to the F stop (though most will still accept Service Pack 0 of the G), and may lock up when you try to mount an F lens. |

You guys crack me up. I have a Seagull DF-2ETM manufactured in Shangai. Cheap? Ya I guess to a certain extent... But it does take nice photos. |

... definitely a minority interest. What's a nice photograph, it depends on who or what is being phtographed, doesn't it ? |

I would suggest that nice in this context has nothing to do with the subject matter. The camera will produce properly focused and exposed negatives/transparencies, that is all one can expect from the equipment. Composition/subject wise the resulting photographs could be utter crap - who knows, as long as the 'artistic' content pleases the photographer. |

You mean your f-stop ring turns when the lens is off the body but locks up after mounting it? Is the little gizwidget around the mount froze up? Maybe... it is Seagull's new AE (automatic exposure) camera. You know, one aperture fits all. Also, does the focus ring lock when mounted? It might be the new Seagull auto focus model. But seriously, I've never had a Seagull SLR. But being mechanical shutter it might be something fun to open. I've played with Seagull's TLR. It took very nice pics. The pics were kinda under-exposed, out of focus and poorly composed with sloping horizon. But I figured it was just jet lagged from the long trip. Henry |
