I have two of these cameras with the same problem. The wind lever will not wind the film and cock the shutter. The lever comes out about a 1/4" from the body of the camera and stops. I believe this is a common problem, since there is an S 2 on E-bay with the same problem. What to look for and how to proceed? |

Sounds like sticky shutter blades.
Sometimes a drop of lighter fluid on the shutter blades can do the job. |

Or the self-timer can be stuck or broken...and this unfortunately is a larger problem. If the self-timer has been activated but did not run all the way to completion, the shutter won't fire, and the whole mechanism is hung until the timer "does its thing."

Hi Ron. I had this problem with an Auto S. For some reason the double exposure interlock had got out of sync. Take the bottom off and try to understand how the interlock works. My memory is a bit vague but there is a small sprung tab that locks into a slot/cam near the base of the wind shaft.

These cameras collect a lot of dust and grime over time in both the shutter and/or the self timer mechanisms, so I bet thorough cleaning is what is necessary, a "drop of lighter fluid" is perhaps a temporary measure but will not really solve the problem; in all other aspects Casper and Jon are right.
