just picked it up in a thrift store. very clean with a 50 1.8 lens. Here is the problem. Mirror is in the up postion. Film advance will not move. Meter does not light. I tried some new batteries but nothing happened. Thanks for any help |

It should unlock when the shutter dial is set to the M90 position. That is a mechanical speed that will work even with dead electronics. If not, try taking off the bottom plate and trying to disengage the wind lock.
It doesn't take much corrosion to prevent batteries from working. Try bending up the battery contact, gently scraping the contact surface, and confirming that the polarity of the batteries is correct. |

Thanks Didn't know about the M90 setting and it works now. Also cleaned the connections and it appears as is working fine. Best twenty bucks I spent this month . John |

Bought FG recently. Does this mean that if there are no batteries Advance level will be stucked on other speed settings other than M90? |
