I just aquired a Canon AE-1P that has an odd trait: If the camera is idle for some time (an hour or so) the first, and only the first, time the shutter is actuated, the first curtain fails to release. It then operates normally with every successive push of the shutter button. Has anyone out there experienced such a problem? Please, no offers for service, just looking for advice. |

Hi Doug, I am a camera repairman and specialize in the repair of Canon 35mm cameras and lenses. Does the camera have sticky light shields and mirror cushion? If it does, some of the sticky light shield material may have dropped down in between the 'bars' of the shutter curtains causing them to stick especially on the first release of the shutter after it has been sitting. It may only need cleaning. Steve Camera Clinic 50 Freeport Blvd #24 Sparks, NV 89431 775-829-2244 |
