The bottom plate and the back should come off as one piece when you turn the "D" latch on the bottom plate. I sometimes have to push in on the back some while pulling the bottom plate down.

Some Pen EE's have a sliding catch on the bottom of the rewind side of the camera, right by the base plate. Pull down on it and the door should open. I believe only early EE's had the 'D' latch.

Is it just a 'plain' EE, an EES or another variant?

Kodacolor X ??!! Your EE was probaly not opened since the 1970's! That is when Kodak discontinued the 'X' and replaced it with a 'II'.

Don't count on the film not having been exposed; somebody might have run it through the camera and rewound it so that the leader still stuck out of the cassete. Not very likely, but I would rather spend the few $$ to have it developed and find out. Better this, than exposing it again and possibly ending up with double exposures.

Good luck,

Jan
