As moving the focusing ring of my Agfa Solinar was very difficult I dropped some lighter fluid on the grease, and some has probably reached the inside of the shutter.
Result is that the Prontor SV shutter is efective, gives the same slow speed at any setting except B and I decided to check the innerworks of the shutter.
I found this information on this BB :
"Remove the lens cells from the front and rear. Turn the lock screw until the flat side is towards the center of the shutter. Unscrew the scalloped retaining nut that is around the lens opening ..."

I had only the front lens removed and followed the instructions of Daniel, but cannot remove the retaining nut !
it moved about one turn and it won't move any further !?

It does unscrew. sometimes they get balky, and on reassembly they like to get cross threaded - sometimes you find one that's slightly bent, which can make reinstalling it a real chore.
what sort of tool are you using to unscrew it? you need to get a good grip on opposite sides of the ring, without squeezing it. a regular pin spanner usually works pretty well. |

I finally could remove that ring and checked the innerworks, and ... nothing special, very clean and shutter speeds in the 1 sec- 1/25 range are OK, but any faster shutter speed gives the same slow speed although the speedcam properly connects to the shutter assembly :-(
any hints where to look ? |

I would give the open shutter a good and repeated cleaning with lighter fluid or isopropene. Sometimes not the slow speeds but other parts of the shutter escapement are sticky. |

I took all parts out and cleaned all of it with lighter fluid, re-assembled the shutter, and no difference at all !
must be something that is not hooked somewhere ...
but cannot see what ?? |

roy, the hammer is probably not a good idea, but go ahead and try the swearing.... you'll be surprised how much it helps

hi Rick, believe it or not, after sending a mail to you I put some more pression on the speed cam and that resolved the problem :-)
seems that the fast/slow control pin didn't click-in as it was supposed to do !
anyway thx for the photos, there are superb especially the annotations (now I know what the parts are called in English) ;-) |
