This coming January I will go to California (mainly San Francisco) for a business trip. I would like to explore the feasibility of buying some vintage stuff. Is there any camera shop that is worth a visit in the San Francisco, or even the bay, area?

first! You will not like the prices! If you want to window shop try

Adolph Gasser 181 2nd st-south of market (see wbsite)

Camera Boutique 665 3rd st #410 Used to have a wide selection. Have not been there in two years. Haggle on price.

Brooks Camera 125 Kearny near Maiden Lane. Sometimes has old stuff.

Used to be another at Kearny and Market, forgotten the name. South of Brooks.

Also do SF museum of modern art. Their permanent display of photography is super. Also usually have some changing show.
Italian? Don't miss North Beach along Columbus Ave. Great coffee shops-Stella bakery and Greco Cafe across the street. Greco usually has photos hanging. Great city,

Thanks a lot! I know quite well SF because I did part of my PhD at UC Davis (1 hr north on the 80). At that time photography was not among my primary interests so I would like to see vintage cameras and prices.

BTW. I do prefer the ocean beach area to the north beach, but will pay a visit to the coffee shops that you suggest.
