Does anyone have recommended 'crinkle' paint? /i.e. rough texture. The finish is wearing off my Nikon HB-7 lens hood, it appears to be glossy plastic underneath. (A new hood is $30, but this one works fine, just looks ugly...) I searched 'paint' and found matt finishes, but this is a rough texture, similar to what is on the lens. Any ideas?

I think it's known in the trade as a "Crackle" finish - might be worth googling for that?

Hope that helps,

Adrian

Traditionally it was " black crackle" finish, as Adrian says, but it now seems to be called "wrinkle"!

It is available in the UK made by Hycote, and in the USA, I think, made by Sperex, both of them in aerosols.

If you haven't used it before, it's a little tricky to apply: the size of the wrinkles is in proportion to how heavy you spray it on, so you need a uniform and fairly heavy coat....

Hello Rick: I have used a crackle paint available from Michaels hobbies and crafts, It didn't come in the color I wanted so I gave it a light coat in that color...Don
