I have a Minolta MC 200/4 lens that works great, but there's no rubber grip on the focusing ring. I'd like to put something there that would work well and not look as awful as duct tape. Does anyone have an idea? |

Go to a stationery store and find a wide rubber band or to a hardware store and find an O-ring. |

I should have mentioned earlier that the grip I refer to is about 1-3/8" wide. |

Mndean, heatshrink warp from a hardware store might work. Alternatively, coverings from www.cameraleather.com to simulate the effect of the focussing grip. If nothing comes of it, then there's always a tabbed quick focussing ring which can be transplanted from a Hasselblad or other type of camera for whom quick focussing rings are made. This would make focussing faster than the one touch zoom approach. |

There are three solutions: 1. Use a leather band. Unless you have already some leatherette, the leatherette solutions would be too expensive. 2. Jon Goodman offers a seal replacement kit that includes self sticking foam sheets in various thicknesses that can be used to advantage. The rest of the kit can be used later for its intended purpose. Go to ebay and do a member search for interslice. 3. There is an ebay member selling lens rubber grips for Nikon in various sizes. By using a combination of widths (the seller uses the term height instead)you will cover the 1-3/8". I have used all three methods with good results. I hope this is of help. Note: My ENTER key gave up the spirit a couple of days ago hence the one paragraph. Cheers, Nikos |

I have a bin full of used lens grips. It is very likely that one of these will work. The ones in the lid are a bit wider than 1 3/8. Let me know a diameter and I will investigate further. Kevin

Kevin, Thanks! I'll let you know as soon as I can, probably later this evening. |
