Dear all, One of the diafragm/iris springs of my pancolar lens is defective. It is very much elongated. It was left for an extended period in the elongated position. Anyway, any suggestions for a replacement part? I tried some springs I had on hand, but it seems they were either too strong or too weak. (not opening it at all, or closing of iris is prevented). Thank you all! Fons |

Unfortunately I can not help, but can you tell me which is the elongated position? I ahve the Pancolar myself and it would be useful how to store it so this do not happen to me too. Eugen |

There are two springs, I'd try to exchange them in case they're equal. If this doesn't help, you have (apart from finding a substitute) to shorten the spring: anneal + cut off + temper back. But this is complicated as far as you could easily make this spring too tight or too weak, resulting new/old problems. To Eugen_mezei: no way to avoid tension as there are 2 springs, either way - one is always under tension. I'm talking about zebra version. Later version I don't know. |
