The light meter switch of my Leicaflex SL, activated by the winding lever, only works intermittently (meaning it only works once in a while). It would be logical to expect it to be located somewhere along the winding shaft axis but you never know. Battery and battery connections are O.K. as evidenced by the needle's response to testing the battery. Any information leading to the identification, apprehension, and punishment of the culprit would be appreciated. Thank you all, Nicholas |

Hi Nikos, you have to take the top housing off to clean the switch; if you need any help with that, let me know. I too have an SL. |

Thank you John, I was just wandering where exactly is the switch located so I will not have to do more work than neccessary. So, are you suggesting that its location is obvious once the top of the camera is removed? |

The switch is on the front wind side, midway between the wind gears and the prism. A hint;set asa to,say,100, remove r/w knob and slotted retaining nut then scribe across slotted cam adj-to-r/w bush for easy reference when re-assembling. Cheers. |

Thanks again. I was afraid that Leitz, in their infinite wisdom, might have located the switch in a remote place, activated by a complex series of gears and cams. As soon as I am done with the two Pancolars I have on my bench (I am trying to make one good lens out of two broken ones) I will go back to the Leicaflex. |
