Hello, I wonder if any one have photos, diagrams or instructions about how to disassemble a Zeiss Sonnar 180/2.8? I have an older all black lens with a detachable rear section. After a local shop lubricated the stiff focus mechanism, the front element inner surface and, possible the middle glass surface got hazy. So, I must disassemble the lens or at least get the front element off so I can clean the glass. Any tips will help. Thanks |

If the problem occurred as a result of work done by a repair-shop, I believe you have the right to take the item back to the place and ask them to take a look at the piece. If you insist on taking it apart yourself, I believe you can get at the innards by unscrewing the three very small screws in the ring you turn to focus the lens. Beware, though, that the Sonnar is a wonderful, and complex, piece of work: you may, indeed, regret ever taking it apart (if you can't get it all back together correctly). If the haze isn't a problem in your pictures -- and, for whatever reason, the repair-shop can't or won't help you -- you might consider leaving well-enough alone. |
