I have a Konica Autoreflex TC that I love, but I would very much like to have a brighter focusing screen for it. Can a screen from a T4 or an FS-1 be used in it without problems? Thanks!! |

I think, although I have no proof for it, that the T4 and TC focusing screens are the same. (The galvanometers are not!) So if you encounter a worn-out T4, it could be worth a try. Beware that reassembly involves adjusting finder focus, which is done with three spring-loaded screws. The screen in the FS-1 and later is not the same. It might fit, or it might fit after some adjustment. IMHO this is only worth the effort if you enjoy the tinkering. You get rid of the bluish colour cast but the gain in brightness is not that big. For that amount of work, I'd look for a T4 body instead. It has all the virtues of the TC plus a full range of shutter speeds and a few extra bits thrown in. |
