I recently bought a cheap Konica C35, however someone had left a mercury battery in, which had corroded not only the contact, but also the black wire leading to the light meter.

After cleaning the contact, replacing the wire and chucking in a zinc-air battery, the light meter's needle now seems to be responding (it goes up when there's lots of light, and down when there isn't).

The problem is that it seems to keep sticking. So far the only solution I've found has been to tap the shutter button, which will cause the needle to gradually edge towards the correct reading each time the shutter is pressed, before eventually settling there once it reaches it. I don't have any film right now, so I haven't been able to run any through it yet.

While I'm happy enough replacing wires, I'm a little apprehensive about messing around with, and possibly damaging, the light meter's needle. Any ideas what may be the problem and how I might go about fixing it?

Thanks.

Is the needle physically rubbing on something? Maybe some other part is making it sticky.
