You need to check the gear train before you'll know what to do next. Open up the back, and advance. The take up spool has a slip clutch, but it should move when you advance the film, and have at least a little pull. The sprocket should move, and should not slip at all. The rewind button disengages the sprocket but does not disengage the take up spool, which just slips when rewound. If the sprocket is freewheeling, then the rewind button mechanism might be sticking even if the button itself popped out. For that, I'm not sure exactly what the mechanism looks like, but I think you can access some of it by removing the bottom plate.
