I'm working on a Welta Perle and am almost done with it. The problem I have come up against now is that at some time in the past, one of the previous owners has ripped out one of the film cradles (supply side). When he did that, he broke off both pins that hold it in place. I figure I can cut off a pair of brads, about 1/16 to 1/8 inch long and file the heads paper thin to make new pins. What I am worried about is, if I use solder to attach them, the heat may warp the cradle or the friction clips that hold the film tight on the spool may come off. It would be a lot less complicated if I could use epoxy, but I'm not sure how strong epoxy is. Would this work?

Wild potshot here - low-melt solder? Alternatively, if epoxy is the easy solution, try it and see? Sorry, not being a lot of help!

Would like to see photos when you are done - that was my Perle you were looking at on rangefinderforum a while back.

Well, I got some JB Weld today, a type of epoxy that the manufacturer's website says is as strong as steel. I'm going to try that. We'll see.

Yes, it really looked poor.
As I said before - excellent work getting it looking so fine again!
