I have a pair of 645s (a 645J and a 645-1000) that I need advice on to repair.
The "J" has first-curtain drag, not visible at 1/60 and slower, blanks out half the frame at 1/500. I've had the side covers off and sparingly oiled the roller bearings, which helped but not enough. Any suggestions?
The 1000s shows light falloff at all speeds, but only at the very top of the frame (viewfinder side) for a fraction of an inch, as if the first curtain is hesitating to open slightly or something in the mirror box is hanging across the very top of the shutter opening. I can't see anything there, can someone offer some advice? Thank you.

Oops...
The 1000s problem is solved. I just compared the two cameras, and the cloth strip which is glued to the back of the mirror to seal the hinge came loose and flops down across the top of the frame when the mirror rises quickly. I didn't see it at first because it doesn't stay down for long... it sort of "bounces" down just long enough to register on the film. I still need help with the "J", though.
